The Very Loud Indeed Co DOMUS domestic appliance household item percussion sample library action drama scoring

The Very Loud Indeed Co. have announced the launch of DOMUS: Home Appliance Percussion, a Kontakt-based percussion sample library which has been created entirely from recordings of home appliances and household items. It contains a mixture of loops and single hits, and is said to be particularly well-suited to action and crime drama scores.

The included sounds offer a large dynamic range and have been designed specifically for layering, making sure the library is as versatile as possible. There are 416 24-bit/48kHz audio files, and as well as being accessible via the Kontakt-based interface, they are also available as WAV files that can be used directly in a DAW or a different sampler platform. All of the loops can be tempo-sync’ed, and single-hit versions of each loop can be accessed via the mod wheel to end phrases or create custom rhythms.

DOMUS features a simple and intuitive GUI that offers fast visual confirmation of which sounds are selected, and all of the sounds can be accessed via keyswitches using a 61-key (or larger) MIDI controller without needing to interact with the GUI or switch octaves.

Compatibility

DOMUS runs in Native Instruments Kontakt 6.8 or higher — it requires the full version, and will not work with the free Kontakt Player — which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and higher. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. DOMUS requires 570MB of disk space.

Pricing & Availability

DOMUS is available now, and is currently (14 December 2023) being offered for an introductory price of $29, reduced from its full cost of $49.
