Shure have announced the launch of the MV7+ Podcast Microphone, which brings a number of improvements and enhancements to their award-winning hybrid XLR/USB dynamic microphone (reviewed here in SOS May 2021). The updated model boasts a new visual design, and benefits from software upgrades designed with the needs of modern content creators in mind.
Hardware
Shure say that the MV7+ is an ideal solution for podcasters, streamers and musicians seeking to capture high-quality audio in even the most challenging spaces. Their Voice Isolation Technology helps the mic to focus on the user’s voice and combat background noise, and a new onboard DSP engine comes loaded with new features designed to further enhance the quality of captured audio.
There’s an improved Auto Level mode that adapts the mic’s gain based on input levels, a Digital Popper Stopper designed to tackle plosives, a Real-time Denoiser capable of reducing background noise, and a built in reverb equipped with Plate, Hall and Studio modes. There’s also a customisable LED touch panel that provides visual indication of signal levels, as well as offering easy access to a mute function.
Software
Alongside the improvements to the hardware, the company have developed a free MOTIV Mix Desktop application that makes it possible to configure all aspects of the MV7+ from a computer. Additionally, the software offers multitrack recording facilities, as well as presenting a range of routing options that provide users with greater control over their live streaming setup. Shure say that the software will soon be compatible with other legacy MOTIV products such as the original MV7 and MVX2U.
Each purchase includes a 3m USB-C cable, a printed quick start guide and a MOTIV Mix Art Card with download instructions. Other accessories including a 15-inch USB-C to Lightning cable and a replacement foam windscreen are available for purchase separately.

The MV7+ is available now in black, priced at $279£279 including VAT / €329. The white version will be shipping in summer 2024 (at the same price), alongside an MV7+ Podcast Kit, a bundle containing a Black MV7+ and a Gator microphone stand for $299£299 including VAT / €349.
