Image Line have announced the release of the latest version of FL Studio, which introduces a range of the most requested features alongside a selection of new plug-ins.
A pair of powerful new features have been added to the DAW’s Piano Roll tool: a Snap to Scale function and Python-based scripting capabilities. Using the first will cause notes to automatically snap to the selected scale on placement or movement, making quick work of key changes and speeding up note editing.
The scripting function then allows those with coding knowledge to apply custom MIDI data manipulation, making it possible to generate progressions and drum patterns by inputing their desired notes and rhythms. The company have also introduced a forum for users to share and discuss scripts, along with a selection of pre-scripted melodies and beats which allow non-coders to take advantage of the feature.
The software's built-in processing options have also been expanded thanks to the addition of some new plug-ins, and some updates to the DAW’s existing offerings. An AI-powered Edison Declipper processor helps to salvage audio recordings that have suffered from clipping, and a new Hyper Chorus plug-in makes it possible to dynamic, layered ensemble effects from single voices or instruments.
A number of other improvements have also been made, including an option to link waveform colours to frequency levels for easy identification whilst mixing, automatic software updates and external MIDI clock syncing capabilities.

FL Studio 21.1 is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13.6 or higher.
