The latest plug-in from Baby Audio has been developed in collaboration with producer Andrew Huang, and is specifically designed to create effects such as build-ups, drops, sweeps and more. Transit contains no fewer than 18 effect modules which can be freely assigned to seven different slots, all of which can then be assigned to a single macro control for quick and easy control over the entire sound.
The plug-in comes loaded with modulation effects such as a phaser and chorus, along with a variety of distortion, bit-crushing and noise modules, delay and reverb, two different types of filter and even a synth-style oscillator and noise generator. All of the loaded effects parameters can be assigned with ‘start’ and ‘end’ values, with a global Transition control allowing all of them to be controlled at once, and of course, automated by the host DAW.
As well as the default Macro Mode, Transit is also equipped with a Sequencer Mode. When selected, this feature utilises a built-in sequencer to allow tempo-sync’ed transitions to be triggered at the push of a button. The company say that it is great for using the plug-in for live performances, or can also be triggered with DAW automation to achieve perfectly timed transitions without drawing in the automation data manually. The mode is enhanced further by a Loop setting, which will repeat the transitions indefinitely, allowing the plug-in to be used to create LFO-inspired modulation effects.
Transit comes loaded with over 300 presets created by Andrew Huang and other leading sound designers, and there is also a function that allows users to specify sets of parameters and have the plug-in assign random parameters to each of them in order to quickly generate new ideas.
Compatibility
Transit is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and higher and Macs running macOS 10.7 and above. It is available in VST, VST3, AU and AAX formats.
