Sound Particles SkyDust 3D updated

User-imported samples now supported

Sound Particles SkyDust 3D 1.5 spatial immersive audio software synthesizer

Initially announced at this year’s NAMM Show, SkyDust 3D was said to be the first software synthesizer to boast built-in immersive audio capabilities. Since its launch, Sound Particles have introduced full MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) support, and with the release of version 1.5, users are now able to import their own audio files for use alongside the synth's oscillators.

SkyDust 3D is equipped with eight oscillators per voice, and it is now possible to load custom samples in place of an oscillator, where they can be processed and modulated in the same way. Version 1.5 also expands the oscillators themselves, which are now offer an even wider sonic palette thanks to the inclusion of over 100 different waveforms.

Additional waveform modifiers have been added, too, further enhancing the instrument’s sound sculpting capabilities, whilst new effects provide keen sound designers with even more tools to process their patches. New envelope generator curve types are also present, offering more versatility when shaping sounds.

In addition to the headline features, the update also introduces a number of enhancements and improvements, such as the ability to search, filter and sort presets for quicker navigation of patches.

Compatibility

SkyDust 3D is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and above. It is available in VST, AU and AAX plug-in formats.
