Joining Team SOS is industry-veteran Dan Brown, shown here in EastWest recording studio control room.
Based in Southern California, Dan brings to Team SOS a lifetime of immersion in the sales, distribution, marketing and product marketing of music and audio creation technologies. In his capacity as SOS North America Sales Manager, Dan will play a key role in further developing our established North America print edition and associated digital products, picking up the baton so cruelly dropped by the recent unexpected passing of our colleague and friend, Paul DaCruz.
Dan’s stellar background includes many years of first-hand, in-depth experience in music and audio retail with Lier’s Music of Southern California, Brooks Mays Music of Dallas Texas and most recently KVR Marketplace.
Dan has also represented many of the most recognised brands in music and audio creation including Roland (Rep of the Year and Presidents Award Winner 1991), Boss, Rhodes, Native Instruments, BBE, G&L Guitars, EastWest Sounds and Best Service Sounds.
His experience includes representing music and audio distributors including Best Service Distribution of Munich, Germany and Plugivery of Montreal, Canada.
Dan also spent many years with Apple Computer. At Apple during Steve Jobs’ tenure, Dan was Worldwide Developer Relations Manager connecting music and audio developers with the Apple platform before being elevated into the role of Audio Technologies Manager in Worldwide Product Marketing, overseeing the conception and implementation of the audio features of Mac OS X, including Core Audio, Core MIDI and Audio Units.
And, of course, Dan has worked in publishing representing Keyboard, Future Music (US), EQ, Guitar World and their myriad spin-off publications and websites.
Dan has been CEO for 18 years and counting of his own marketing and representation firm based in Southern California: AudioSage.
He is a prolific composer, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, synthesist and recording musician with an extensive catalogue of original music under his belt.
Dan’s mantra, and that of AudioSage, is “Connecting Creators” and his mission continues with Sound On Sound — Connecting the creators of innovative music and audio production technologies with the SOS creative print magazine/app readers and website visitors who crave such tools.
Dan commences this important role at Sound On Sound on Tuesday 14 November 2023, working on our JANUARY 2024 North America edition — the one we distribute extra free copies of at NAMM Show 2024.
