Softube announce Console 1 Channel Mk III

Console-style controller gets major redesign

Softube Console 1 Channel Mk III DAW hardware control surface

Softube have announced the upcoming launch of Console 1 Channel Mk III, a new and updated version of their popular hardware control surface and software package.

The original Console 1 unit was released almost a decade ago, and has been widely praised for its innovative approach to DAW control. The combination of its hardware channel strip controller and software environment provide users with a console-like mixing experience, something which was extended in 2020 with the release of the Console 1 Fader unit. Whilst the Mk II version retained the same feature set but with some cosmetic changes, the newly announced Mk III is a much more radical upgrade.

Hardware

Dedicated controls are available for all of the unit’s key functions, with the top panel divided into Tape/Preamp, Shape, Equalizer, Compressor and Drive sections.

There are also two high-resolution screens, equipping the EQ and compression sections with detailed visual feedback. As well as being placed on a desktop, the Mk III can also be fitted with rack ears, and boasts a VESA mount for compatibility with a huge range of third-party mounting hardware.

As you might expect, Softube say that they are also working on the Console 1 Fader Mk III, with more details to be announced in the near future.

Software

A new Core Mixing Suite software package accompanies the hardware surface, and comes loaded with a range of built-in processors that include tape and preamp models, filters and Shape processors, as well as two different EQs and three types of compressor. A major new feature is that the EQ and compressor sections — as well as the new Shape section — can now be loaded with two processors at once, with users able to switch between them directly from the hardware. It will also be possible to expand the processing abilities with additional compatible plug-ins from Softube and Universal Audio.
