Organic Instruments introduce Atmospheres

Creates soundscapes from samples of natural sounds

Organic Instruments Atmospheres ethereal soundscapes nature field recordings virtual instrument

The latest release for Organic Instruments’ Elemental Player platform is a virtual instrument that creates ethereal soundscapes using tuned and manipulated field recordings. The core sounds used in Atmospheres have been recorded in a number of different locations, capturing a set of natural sounds including birdsong, forest ambience, rainfall and thunderstorms.

The instrument features a simple GUI with a set of four icons representing each core sound, along with an ADSR envelope section that makes it possible to tweak the response of a triggered sample. Some further adjustment is provided by a Dynamics section, which houses Gain, Panning and Velocity Range parameters, and there’s also an onboard reverb effect equipped with Size, Width, Damp and Dry/Wet controls.

Compatibility

Atmospheres runs in Organic Instruments’ free Elemental Player, which is supported on PCs running Windows (no minimum version specified) and Macs running macOS 10.13 or higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.

Pricing & Availability

Atmospheres is available now, and is being offered for an introductory price of $39 until 7 February 2024, after which it will cost $65.
