New educational YouTube channel

Orchestral Tools Virtual Orchestration orchestral mock up composer education tutorial videos

Sample library experts Orchestral Tools have announced the launch of Virtual Orchestration, a new educational YouTube channel dedicated to the art of composing with sampled orchestral instruments. Created in collaboration with Berklee College of Music, the company say that the channel is open to everyone, and will feature episodes aimed at both aspiring and experienced composers looking to expand their musical capabilities.

Berklee’s Screen Scoring faculty were directly involved in the development of the Berlin Orchestra sample library, helping to ensure that the final product met the exact requirements of their curriculum. The idea of providing a free series of videos for those learning orchestration skills evolved from that collaboration, and is now finally available to a worldwide audience in the form of the Virtual Orchestration channel.

“The screen scoring department is always exploring new ways to educate our students and expand the platform upon which music can be taught through new ideas and technologies. These are values that Orchestral Tools share with us and as such it’s been a wonderful project to pool our collective expertise in creating a free learning resource for a wider audience.” - Sean McMahon, Screen Scoring Chair, Berklee College of Music

The videos will be hosted by composer Alex Lamy, and will explore every aspect of a composer's creative process. The company say that each lesson has been designed to be inspiring and practical, and will contain a weath of tips and tricks for composers of all levels. The first episodes of Season 1 are available now, with new episodes due for release every Sunday.
