Eventide release Blackhole & MicroPitch Immersive plug-ins

Up to 7.1.4 channel layouts now supported

Eventide Blackhole Micropitch Immersive surround spatial audio reverb pitch-shifting plug-ins

Eventide Audio have announced the launch of Blackhole Immersive and MicroPitch Immersive, a pair of new plug-ins which bring surround and immersive audio (including Dolby Atmos) support to their popular reverb and pitch-shifting/detuning/delay processors.

The new offerings deliver the same sonic performance as their stereo-only counterparts, but with an extended channel count and refreshed user interface. Blackhole brings with it the company’s renowned reverb algorithm, which can be used to create everything from subtle ambient spaces to dramatic, supernatural-sounding decays and drones. MicroPitch then makes it possible to mix in detuned and delayed versions of the audio source, producing anything from subtle ‘thickening’ of sounds to slap-back delays, echoes and chorus effects.

Immersive Capabilities

Both plug-in’s feature an intuitive GUI which Eventide say has been optimised for immersive mixing workflows, offering a set of core controls that remain the same across all available channel layouts and removing the need for any ‘menu diving’. LCR, Quadraphonic, 5.0 to 5.1.4 and 7.0 to 7.1.4 formats are supported, with the plug-ins providing individual speaker level controls for each and ensuring that any processing applied maintains the incoming signal’s spatial image. Separate EQ controls are provided for the front, top and rear speaker channel groups, allowing users to sculpt the sound of the effect around the listener from within the plug-in.

There are Kill Dry, Kill Wet and Freeze controls that make it possible to create drastic effects, and it is possible to create two different sets of parameter positions, and then morph seamlessly between them using a large horizontal slider. Each of the plug-ins come loaded with a selection of presets, and a Mix Lock function allows users to audition them whilst keeping their wet/dry balance fixed in place. Some helpful tools such as undo and redo and A/B comparison functions are also on offer, and the GUI is resizeable.
