Deutsche Grammophon launch Stage+

Classical music streaming service

Stage Plus classical music opera live streaming concert album event

Deutsche Grammophon, the world’s oldest record label, and Universal Music Group have launched Stage+, a classical music subscription service that offers livestreams along with a huge video archive and new audio releases , all in the highest possible quality.

Universal Music Group say that subscribers will be brought closer than ever before to the label's roster of world-class artists, and will be able to access a wide range of content including exclusive live premieres, long-form concert and opera programmes, music videos, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes interviews.

The platform will also offer new audio releases in addition to albums from the Deutsche Grammophon and Decca catalogues. All of the content will be made available in the highest possible quality, with the service providing 4K video and lossless audio playback where possible, with the Dolby Atmos format also supported.

Content planned for the service’s first few weeks include a performance of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio captured at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London, a Mahler cycle from Vienna’s Musikverein, and Max Richter’s Voices from Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, with more events to be announced.

The live and video-on-demand streams will also include Deutsche Grammophon’s Yellow Lounge classical club nights across the globe, as well as performances at World Heritage Sites such as the Forbidden City and the Sistine Chapel.
