Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies have expanded from their base in Nottingham by opening a new industry centre in Whitechapel East London. The new facility provides leaners with the opportunity to study a range of vocational degrees in performance, production and business for the music and live events industries, as well as emerging technologies such as esports, virtual production and content creation.

The campus houses a number of specialist music recording studios, rehearsal and live rooms, along with broadcast facilities, virtual production stages and teaching spaces. There’s also a 600-capacity live venue kitted out to host live music, entertainment and esports events.

One of the headline features of the new campus is their immersive audio room, which houses a 9.1.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring system from UK-based speaker manufacturer PMC. It also became the first room in the world to utilise SSL’s TriniTy system, which combines the company’s Duality Fuse SuperAnalogue console and DAW controller with the System T for Music, providing an all-in-one console solution for tracking, mixing and immersive audio production.

“Recording engineers are part of the creative process. They shape the sound and develop the artist’s vision for their music. Having tools that enable this is vital. The combination of Duality Fuse and System T SSL have created as a result of our input is incredibly flexible, capable of immersive mixing and gives engineers the ability to route audio objects through analogue hardware as they would in a traditional mix room. Our students will be the first in the world to learn Dolby Atmos mixing techniques on a desk specifically designed for this purpose.” - Joe Duckhouse, Chief Technology Officer, Confetti Media Group

In the institution’s 30-year history, Confetti alumni have gone on to work for the likes of Warner Brothers, BBC and Bauer Media, working behind the scenes of hit TV shows like Ted Lasso and successful video game franchises like Grand Theft Auto. Students are able to work alongside other Confetti Media Group businesses as interns and on placements, as well as producing programmes for Notts TV and becoming involved with projects run by local creative businesses.
