Imaginando’s latest release is a groovebox-style music production tool available for both desktop and mobile platforms. BAM Beat Maker & Music Maker is kitted out with a collection of built-in synthesis engines, effects, modulation capabilities and more, making it possible to create everything from drum loops to complete tracks, all within a single, self-contained environment.
The software is equipped with 11 synthesis engines: Oscillator, Drum Synth, Sampler, Hofman (a classic-sounding acid bass synth) and Noise, along with six analogue drum emulations (Kick, Snare, Clap, Tom/Conga, Hi-Hat and Cowbell). There are 16 tracks available that all benefit from a built-in mixer with full control over levels, panning, mutes and solos, as well as a master bus and two send channels, and there’s plenty of audio content on offer thanks to a factory sample library loaded with over 1000 drum, percussive and melodic sounds.
BAM's Matrix view makes it possible to launch clips and scenes to create remixes and interesting live performances.All of the onboard synth engines can be programmed using a MIDI clip piano roll editor, and a built-in 256-step sequencer makes quick work of turning ideas into full loops and parts — each track’s playhead moves independently, ensuring that users are able to easily visualise the progress of clips that are set to different lengths.
Step-based automation makes it possible to manipulate parameters, and every track also features a pair of modulation slots that can be loaded with an envelope generator or LFO-style modulator. There’s a healthy dose of creative processing available, too, thanks to built-in Filter, 3-band EQ, Parametric EQ, delay, Chorus, Compressor, Reverb, Saturator, Bit Reduction and Stereo Enhancer effects modules.
As well as creating music, BAM also packs in a number of live performance and arrangement features. A Matrix view provides a grid capable of hosting clips across all 16 tracks, allowing users to launch individual clips and scenes, and build new arrangements by duplicating and editing their saved scenes.
Compatibility
BAM is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. It is available in VST and AU plug-in formats. The iPad version requires iPad OS 14 or higher, and is available as a standalone App or AUv3 plug-in. The standalone App version is also capable of hosting other AUv3 plug-ins.

BAM is available now. The desktop version is priced at €149, or €14.90 per month for 12 months as part of a rent-to-own plan. The iPad version is available via Apple’s App Store, priced at $29.99.
