API release LLX bass pedal

New bass pedal features API's legendary EQ

API Select TranZformer LLX bass guitar effects pedal

Following on from the success of their TranZformer GTR and CMP guitar pedals, API have released the API Select TranZformer LLX bass pedal. This latest addition to the range has been designed specifically for use with bass guitars and features an OpAmp overdrive stage, API’s legendary EQ and a signature API output transformer.

Up to 40dB of gain is available, with the pedal’s gain stage featuring two switchable modes, a Clean Boost setting, and an Overdrive which allows the OpAmp circuit to be driven harder to allow for a wider range of tones. The three-band EQ offers +/-15dB at bass guitar-specific frequencies, with low and mid controls sitting at 100 and 400 Hz, and a high frequency control (switchable between peak or shelf) set at 2kHz.

The design is compact, allowing the unit to fit easily onto pedalboards, and the pedal has been engineered to run on standard 9V or 18V power supplies. A -20dB output pad is provided, and the device features a buffered bypass design.

“The original TranZformer LX pedal was incredibly popular, and was a favourite with bass players like Victor Wooten and Les Claypool,” commented API Sales Account Manager Mark Seman. “When we first introduced the GTR and CMP we had calls and emails from all over the world asking when we would release a bass version. You asked, we delivered – the LLX Bass Pedal is here and we are thrilled to add it to our lineup of high-quality compact effects pedals.”

The TranZformer LLX is available now, priced at $295. We've had our hands on one here at Sound On Sound, with a full review under way.
