Developed by the team at Ketchup and manufactured by Tiger Global, A2D2 is a compact device that has been designed to wirelessly stream any audio playback device with an analogue line-level output to smart speaker systems.
A2D2 features a stereo line-level input on RCA connectors, which can be used to connect devices such as CD players, tape decks or turntables — a preamp will be required for turntables that don’t have one built in. The input signal then feeds a 48kHz A-D converter, the output of which is made available to smart devices over a user’s home network using a mobile app. There’s also a pair of stereo outputs on RCA sockets and a 3.5mm mini-jack that allow the signal to be passed on to additional analogue devices, if required.
The device is powered via USB-C and can operate wirelessly thanks to built-in Wi-Fi capabilities, or can be connected via Ethernet, and is capable of streaming to multiple devices from different manufacturers at once. The company say that it is compatible with systems from all brands, and offers a simple one-tap connection to Sonos, AirPlay, Alexa and Chromecast devices. It’s also possible to listen to the signal on any device with software that supports streaming from custom URLs, such as Tune-In Radio or VLC media player.
